I am having a problem on my computer where an error pops up when I try to play. The error reads: "unable to load texture sys\gfx\terraindirt.bmp".

Sounds like you've been modding. If you have, look for any of the gfx files you may have changed. If you haven't, reinstall the game.

No, I have yet to play the game what so ever on this computer and have downloaded different versions from different websites, all with the same error.
Testing press F12 to return to the editor I press f12 and it goes back to the editor and on to the island?

And that means that the Engine (or game) can't find the denoted file above (verify, if this file exists!).
But obviously you have to re-install Stranded II (it just have to run!), try to download the current version in this forum.

The first thing i do is go into the editor then exit then I start a random island at the bottom of the screen it says

Bug, yes. But I don't think that this bug will be fixed soon.
