There *is* a way to convert .skp files to .3ds, meaning you can finally use Sketchup for stranded 2. You need the following programs.

Google Sketchup: (search on google for download)

Blender: (search on google for download)

a .stl exporter which you can get here: http://www.guitar-list.com/download-software/convert-sketchup-skp-files-dxf-or-stl
follow instructions of the page for how to install.

Then is Sketchup go to Tools->Export to Dfx of Stl.

choose .stl and put a .stl at the end of your filename.

then open blender and File->Import->Stl
then File->Export->.3ds
