Aedolaws,
thanks for the compliments, you have been here since I started this mod and I will finish the end games and fix the last bugs before I call it quits on this version...I just have to put it on the back burner for a while.

Assassin,
hey thanks for chekin it out...I'll give ya a yell if I get bogged down. Might need some backup idk yet.

Extraordinary,
you have to use a shovel and prospect the ground to find a "underground spring" / water rock....build the pump on that. The mine looks like a miniature hut...once you build it you walk up to it and hit your E button to enter it. In both cases you have to have acquired the right level to unlock the ability...click the Mining skill and Digging skill in the Character Menu for details.

Heres the link again for a preview for my new stand alone game The Survivalist. Will be a while before it is downloadable, but you get an idea of how much better it should be when completed.

JJ,

You should recruit 1 or 2 eager coders from this thread to help you out. And again, it would not be stupid to reach out to DC and collaborate on Stranded III. You got what it takes, and you will learn a lot.

Getting TS to stand on four legs will not be easy. Do worry, I will start posting on your web page soon, rambling about crap so far. You want some sort of good forum system. I doubt you will get many posts at first, but they should make sense and help you out from the get-go. Maybe you want to mimic DC?

I agree, getting the game on-the-go ain't gonna be easy, but since Bassdrop knows a little something about coding, Assasin have model, and you know much coding now. It shouldn't be impossible. And the forum system won't be very large if it based only on that game. I suggest create more or make TS bigger like minecraft?

Hi Prinz...well, I maybe over tweaked the "collision" setting for the whale. Or did I?

In the coding you can set the range around an object to create the collision when it meets another object. I did set the whale kinda small...so there is a "sweet spot" that will register a damaging blow. Once any animal starts bleeding they WILL die eventually, when their blood runs out. This gives way to having to "track' some game to get your bag. If you hit a whale in real life with any spear you made or bought on some island, it is doubtful you would succeed in killing it...or in building a raft and sail and ever even hitting a whale, let alone find one. If you did find one and did hit it with as many harpoons as you had, you would still have a hard time...in real life.

---------------
Even the natives bleed-out...if you stab one in the early day and just follow him around he will eventually fall over dead when he runs out of blood. Its just a matter of how long based on size and type of man/animal, and how badly you wounded him to bleed.

So it may be tedious to kill a whale, but if you do, the rewards are real good in meat, oil, loot...just as in real life.

I will however tweak the collision maybe a little in the next update...for now though you may have to hit em in the heart to kill em...or wound them once, and track em until they "bleed-out" to death. (all animals stop bleeding at midnight though, so you better hunt whale early morning)
If they stop bleeding at midnight they begin to heal health every midnight untill they are 100%...unless you kill them first.

but yes...the collision is so small a radius it is very hard to kill them...the spear going through the body without doing damage is pretty unsightly i understand.

I
hope so too... But I think JJ focus on those bars like mood, body
temperature etc. He got the vegetation up, he just need a gameplay
purpose, unit and item to release the beta, I think. Beta need testers,
but I think that won't be a problem there are many eager beta tester out
there.

well...many of the game features added to TheSurvivalist do not work with a edited map that you create with the editor...the coding I did was done to actually over-ride what the editor uses/codes. One good example is having a fire that stays lit under a roof of some sort, such as a hut. Another is the weather systems and additionally the growing of plants and even the sleeping system. If you made a map and loaded to play, none of those feature work because the output from the editor does not support the codes I crafted myself to do these "unique" things. In the coding and how it is implemented, I could get them to work when the game loads a map that is generated when the game starts using my "outside" coding...the code then works on the map generated when you spawn.

the bright side of having all the features in this survival game as compared to the regular stranded games and other mods is...you can at least have a new randomly generated map every time you start a new game. With several settings for each. Early on, you can also make a map pretty soon after starting a game (startch+stone = paper|||paper+charcoal=map)...where you can see the current map your on then decide if you want to start over a new game that would then create a new map...etc.

is there a way i can combine this with the actual stranded 2 game? so that the updates and new features are on the original stranded 2 game? The story line mode is awesome and i bet it'd be even more so with the added changed this mod brings.

hey g how ya doin...well, I can only say I sent Peter a message complimenting him on his work here not long after I joined. I did tell him if there was anything I could do to help him out feel free to ask...He said "ok" and never asked me.

Though I am still green at coding I am learning quickly as the months pass. My new game is proving that to myself actually.

akilae...hi.
I guess if Peter wanted to add some of this mod to his stranded game he could do that. It could be compared to your idea the same if someone took this mod and added the story line to it

Sorry all as it will be a little while before I can get back to another update here. Thanks for your patients and comments and encouragements!

BassDrop, believe me, I did not mean to belittle your work. I thank you for improving the game. To be honest, I just read the past 40 posts and issued my opinion. And please know that you know how to code 100 times more than I do.
While your work may be great, I do not think it is the right idea for the game. However, I think this could be tweaked into something more realistic. How? I am not sure, but I am sure it can be. Maybe you can think of something? I am thinking if "water" is at issue, then we should try to come up with one more realistic way of getting water: Rain catch, Solar still, Water purification. I AM ALWAYS IN FAVOR of making the game harder. We should make water harder/more creative/realistic to get in hard mode. Maybe the stick should be the way to drill AFTER you prospect for water. Heh, I don't know. But my point is that I recognize the great work you have done and I hope you keep it coming.

now, really. That was just a simple script. All i did was reference a few files from it in a format to make it actually work.
Realistically, if you thought i was actually really good, I'd be making effects with that as well. But, The stick is basically just an infinite torch. I just felt the project was necessary for the Bronies (No, if you think I'm one of those "Hello, I like My Little Pony" Before I even introduce myself, You'd be pretty damned stereotypical.) If you thought I did it because r34, I'm sorry, but in my eyes, you might be one of the most hated people.
Hmm. I like the idea of purification, but.. I don't really think there's a need for such thing. We already got the distiller for distilling salt water, maybe i could use that to make pure water, and then overhaul it so that you can collect rainwater and put it in the distiller..? I don't think there is a code command for If day (correct me if i'm wrong)
To finalize everything, I have no intentions of using the stick for anything useful other than being a torch. It's optional you even install it in your game.

My word. I never expected someone to say something so nice to me.
Well, here goes my childhood for greater good. Scratch the last sentence in the other reply. I commit.

For now, it is impossible to bring this to campaign mode. Why? Campaign on it's own has a pre-genned island. Which means no Whales, no fish, and no silicon gens. sorry

Alright. My project right now will be to overhaul making water so you can make 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 bottles with 1 click. Feels like a beginners project to me.
Alright. I've finished the project with water at least. Took about a couple hours, and it actually works great!
So, I created a new thread for my little modification.

hey guys...as you know i had that hard-drive crash a while back that had a big update stored on it. It is part of the reason for the delay in my posting a new update.

I still have 1 possibility to extract that data off the bad drive...it will just cost me money and time. The update on that drive is BIG and significant, in-so-much as I cannot bring myself to "redo" the entire update. (ton of work and time was spent on it)

What i am gong to try is to buy the same exact drive and swap the internal "disk" out. I have researched this procedure and it is a good possible solution to retrieve the data off a bad drive. The only way it will not work is if the actual data got corrupted for some unknown reason.

This is the reason I keep all kinds of important work I have stored in an external drive. Computers can be a huge headache sometimes.
