Earlier I suggested changing the dependence of the range of the shot on the position of the cursor relative to the player's position, in which case the scatter pattern may well be imposed on the area where the shot is made.
Also, I suggested implementing the fog of war with an algorithm similar to the one used when calculating damage from an explosion.
It was also proposed to layered maps - so that you could make ramps and bridges over the passages, while rendering the effects and damage depending on the location of the players.
In fact, there are plenty of options for ideas to improve the game, but as far as I know Peter does not want to implement further development and support for the game.

In addition, unpleasant that cool according to the votes and ranking maps and full-fledged mods and scripts are not implemented in the game, that is, they do not add fun for the players because few of them look at the site / forum / file archive. And inside the game there are no announcements and no browser to interest the player community.

so, you people were saying?

indeed, the video energised cs2d for a few days, but it's back to the same good old routine as far as i can see. people visited, experienced it, and are done with it, as there is nothing to make them stay. long gone are the days when people played video games for a sense of community on certain servers, now it's all about leveling up, in-game items, microtransactions.

It's awesome to see such a cool game from my childhood getting such a big spotlight! Sorry I missed it when it was popular once again! I wish I knew about this video and downloaded the game again while it had a little revival, to bad. I'm still gonna download and check it out though. The game and user interface looks quite a bit better from what I remember!

Also I miss this community. This place is just as I remember it and it's so cool that you have kept it running DC. Sorry I was immature when I was around, I was a kid lol

@user Gaios: It's impossible to bring back the old players, as most of them have grown up and no longer care about CS2D.

That's not entirely true. There's definitely a few old players, including me, who would revisit cs2d again if the playerbase would hit a decent peak like back in the good ol' days.

Heck I would even be ready to host servers with scripts that I'd like to have used back then. But the truth is that the big majority of new gamers from the upcoming generations are a bunch of cashcows, ready to be milked by the gaming industry.

Just take a look at games like Fortnite, the shit that EA and other companys are pulling with their games with microtransactions, even Valve with their CSGO Skin Economy (at least they took a hit against the gambling sites but only recently after a couple of years, prior to the CS2 release...).

Nobody is interested in a free, casual but well made game with good features nowadays. It's all about fortnite dances, pay to win, monthly subscriptions for premium acces, GTA5 cringe roleplay and all the other bullshit that has emerged over the past couple years.

So, since the game will never change beyond what it is today, then we can only enjoy what it offers now. There will come a day when we won't even have that anymore. Unless someone knows how to make a CS2D2.
