So I know I shouldn't post questions about this, but I've watched/read many guides all detailing things I've already done and I am still unable to set up a dedicated server. A few months back, I got a new router, and before that I used to host a few successful dedicated servers.

After that however, I've been unable to get my server "public". I've port forwarded in my new routers firewall in both UDP and TCP, in "in" direction and "out" direction (In "dst" and "Src". I've even checked my routers firewalls "security" log and any connection related to the default port "36963" has been allowed.

In my Windows 7 firewall, I've allowed the port in both UDP and TCP in local port and remote port. I've allowed the dedicated server tool program and the game exe in the firewall.

I've also checked the "server" list and I located my IP address, in both the USGN website server list, and the in-game server list, but its red.

I am unable to connect by IP as well.

Despite all of this, I am still unable to host the server. I've tried closing my antivirus (Avast!) and my Windows firewall. Is their anything I missed? And suggestions?

first of all: CS2D doesn't use TCP (okay it does, but only for the implemented IRC chat in the main menu) - so it's not required to care about TCP when hosting. UDP is the important thing.

second: many people experience the problem that they can't join servers which are hosted on the same network (or even the same PC) over the internet (using Lan should work). that's a common routing problem caused by many routers. the solution to that would be to ask a friend if he/she is able to see/join your server. this is also mentioned in the official CS2D FAQ.

I put TCP because I was going insane wondering why it wouldn't work.
Also, I've asked my friend in Canada to try to look for server, no luck, so I gave him the server IP to connect to, and he told me that the server timed out for him.

I've went to "canyouseeme.org" to see if the port was open, and it was either "connection timed out" or "connection refused" Which was confusing, because I would close my firewall, and it would be refused, turn it back on, and it would be timed out.

Thanks for the quick reply ; o

then you either didn't forward correctly or there is still a firewall (or another application) blocking.

note that some routers have built-in firewalls as well. in that case forwarding isn't sufficient. in some routers you have to add the game to an application or virtual server list. read the router manual for details or contact the router tech support. we can't help you there because this is different for each router.

also very unlikely but not impossible: your ISP blocks that port.

I've tried looking for a option to add a game or application or anything like that, but all the options given to me were port forwarding, port triggering, DMZ, and a few that are irreverent to that.

I've been trying to find out what other program could be blocking the port, or not allowing the connection on my computer by looking for some type of "security log" for Windows 7, but so far, I've found very basic logs in "event viewer" about every time I add a new exception or something.

I'm going to go try find my router box and look for some manuals.

-edit-
No luck at all. I don't believe its my routers firewall though, I mean every single connection related to 36963 was allowed in the security logs, UNLESS IT LIED TO ME! >:O$!@#O%#! RAEG!

Does anyone have Avast! and knows if it is capable of blocking ports, or if Windows 7 firewall can still block ports even with it being closed?

you can try the DMZ host function of your router if everything else fails. but this function will disable all security routines of your router which results in a more open and vulnerable system.

I'm going to try DMZ, for a few minutes to see if it works, and if it does, then I'll know the connection is being "screwed" over at the router. The problem is, I share my router with someone else, so if anyone asks, I did not try DMZ. ; O

-edit of edit-
Okay, so after I used DMZ host, for a split second I saw the server on the "Internet" list and I joined it successfully. I left, and went to look for it again, and I failed to find it.
